About Yancey

Jonathan Yancey is a lifelong Tennessean who has dedicated his career to public service. A former high school science teacher and professor, Yancey now serves his community as a youth athletics coach and mentor. He also drives a school bus for his county school system. 

Yancey has over 25 years of people leadership experience from multiple industries. He is also a small business owner and a university administrator for a non-profit online university. 

Originally from Clarksville, Tennessee, Yancey is a proud graduate of Clarksville Montgomery County Schools System. He is also a proud graduate of Austin Peay State University where he earned his Bachelors of Science in Biology and Masters or Arts in Teaching.

Yancey was born at Fort Campbell, KY to Mc and Min Yancey. Mc, a U.S. Army Retired Veteran, would teach Yancey the value of strong work ethic, persistence, and taking initiative and accountability. Min, a post-Korean War South Korean immigrant, would teach Yancey the value of humility, patience, and resourcefulness.  

Yancey lives in Murfreesboro, TN, with his wife, three children, three dogs, and several neighborhood children who frequently visit his home.

Yancey's day begins at 3 am each morning where he devotes time to his spiritual, mental, and physical health.

Yancey enjoys spending time with his family and friends, cooking, watching sports, and if time permits, playing video games.
